Samlesbury Heritage
Take a day out at the stunning Samlesbury Hall; a stately home with centuries of history and stories to tell. With events and exhibitions, guided tours, playgrounds and farm animals. Visit the Bee Centre where you can discover the importance of bees at this conservation centre. You can see the bees up close while they’re hard at work, making honey, building honeycomb, and even the Queen Bee laying eggs. Just a short drive away, is Clitheroe Castle, Houghton Tower, and Blackpool.
The Great Outdoors
Fancy a day out taking in the fresh air? There’s so much to do in and around Samlesbury for all the family. Brockholes Nature Reserve has a fantastic climbing forest, play areas, zip wires, and an exciting world for little nature explorers. Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary, just a few miles away, is a rescue and rehabilitation centre with over 90 birds of prey. With large open aviaries, sheltered woodlands, and flying displays and events for all the family.
Samlesbury Aerodrome
The Samlesbury Aerodrome is now owned by BAE Systems and is the site for the manufacturing several types of aircraft. Dating back to 1922, historic aircraft such as the De Havilland Vampire, the English Electric Canberra, and the English Electric Lightning were created here. More famously, the Bluebird K7 was produced at Samlesbury Engineering in the early 1950s, in which Donald Campbell set 7 world water speed records, believing to have rached 326 mph in 1967.
